JACQUELINE TOBOROFF: NY shows up for Trump

Believe your eyes. If this is happening in New York City, this is happening.

Believe your eyes. If this is happening in New York City, this is happening.

On October 27, 2024, Trump held an historic event at Madison Square Garden. It was a sold out crowd in an arena which seats about 19,500 people. Approximately 200,000 tried getting in to hear the ultimate fighter speak.

I was one of those people.

New Yorkers, as far as the eyes could see, were decked out in MAGA gear, waving Trump flags, and holding signs that read, “New York Is Trump Country.” No one better than New Yorkers understands what’s at stake. Life in New York City is insufferable under the Democrat boot. New Yorkers see first hand how the world’s capital of innovation, industry, fashion, competition, nightlife and hospitality, has been reduced because of government overreach, bureaucratic red-tape, ideological hazards, and hostility towards the working class.

Nearly every bad idea plaguing the city and state takes root in New York City’s City Hall and Legislative body in Albany.

Trump understands the damage that New Yorkers have suffered under Democrats. The guy from Queens is bonded to New Yorkers through a shared ironclad willpower and determination to get back up and fight on, no matter what. New Yorkers are molded in toughness of spirit and have true territorial pride, no matter how bad it has gotten. Trump and the New Yorkers who came to see him had a reunion and there was an exchange.

Years of radical one-party Democrat governance has resulted in crime spikes, failing schools, corruption, debt, illegal immigrants, transnational criminal gangs, and regular Islamic “protests.” Somehow, worse than all of this is the inability for New Yorkers to openly discuss the transformation, because true punishment ensues. Freedom of speech comes at a high price for those at ground zero of liberal lunacy.

Trump’s choice of “The Garden” or “MSG,” as New Yorkers call it, nine days before the election, felt like the cavalry had arrived. The cavalry was largely New Yorkers who can no longer stomach the soul-crushing policies, one after another, by way of local elected officials.

Radio host Sid Rosenberg, one of the guest speakers opening for Trump, was blunt; “Look at my city! Look at my city! You can’t walk out past about 10pm at night here. If you’re a pretty woman… you’re punched across the face just for walking down the street. Who did that? Bill de Blasio, Eric Adams, sh***y Democrat mayors, Andrew Cuomo, Kathy Hochul, sh**y Democrat governors.”

Tens of thousands of warriors were on hand, spanning several blocks. Patriots from myriad religious faiths, races, genders, and ages were represented. For a city and state with a rough reputation, there was no pushing or fighting in line. If there was, it would have dominated the news cycle. People were talking about the energy - it was palpable. A gigantic billboard flashed an image of Trump with text reading, “Dream Big Again.”

Under Democrat rule, the American dream has been crushed. Suspended from  a skyscraper, signaling to the crowd, it felt like divine intervention.

Tucker Carlson, another guest speaker opening for Trump, said, “The reason why people are here today and love Trump is because he has liberated us. In the deepest and truest sense. And the liberation he has brought to us is the liberation from the obligation to tell lies. Donald Trump has made it possible for the rest of us to tell the truth. About the world around us.”

The volume of New Yorkers in MAGA gear is a testament to the liberation afoot. It no longer feels like those who want to Make America Great Again need to hide or justify. The cultural implications of holding a Trump rally at MSG are tremendous. The people who should feel deeply embarrassed and ashamed are Democrat voters and Harris supporters.

Vivek Ramaswamy, also a guest speaker, said, “I had a friend of mine, smart guy, he’s a billionaire, texted me this morning and he said, ‘Why the hell are you guys wasting your time in NYC instead of going to a swing state?’ You want to know what I told him? I said, ‘Welcome to 2024 and New York is a swing state.’”

New Yorkers are begging for Trump. Wouldn’t it be something if New York’s 28 Electoral votes went to Trump? It would be the ultimate double barrel to the coastal elites, government lifers, and foreign bad actors.

Believe your eyes. If this is happening in New York City. This is happening.
