Israel struck the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Tuesday, reportedly killing 2 people and injuring 10 people who have not yet been identified.

Per the Jerusalem Post, the IDF confirmed it was targeting a senior Hezbollah commander named Fuad Shukr who was involved in a strike on an Israeli-Druze community in Golan Heights that left 12 children and teenagers dead over the weekend. It is not yet known if the commander is one of the deceased.

Hezbollah has denied responsibility for the Golan Heights strike, however the United States and Israel were in agreement the terrorist organization was behind the attack. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant posted to X shortly after the attack: "Hezbollah crossed the red line."

Shukr was a close adviser to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the head of their operations room. He has been active in the terrorist organization for 30 years, senior security sources told Reuters. He was sanctioned by the US in 2015 and had a $5 million bounty on him according to local Israeli media.
