With the Colorado Supreme Court and Main Secretary of State making two of the most weaponized judicial decisions targeting a political opponent in American history by seeking to remove President Donald Trump from the 2024 GOP Presidential Primary Ballots in their respective states, conservatives across the board nearly all condemned what a disastrous and undemocratic decision it was for the country. Witnessing figures such as Chris Christie speak out against the decision and Vivek Ramaswamy even stating that he wanted to be taken off the ballot if Trump was not allowed on it really stood out as to the tyranny the Colorado Supreme Court and Main Secretary of State were committing with their moves.
However, a needed and uniting message was carried through by only one of the party's other contenders for the nomination. When the decision came down late on December 19th, it took Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley hours to come out with measly statements that did not even take any firm position on how authoritative the decisions were.
While Chris Christie's response that the voters should be able to decide instead of a state court was shocking, it was only surprising because Christie has stated that his only goal in his candidacy was to prevent Trump from being the GOP nominee. Christie aimed to draw the anti-Trump crowd with some establishment voters opposing the MAGA/America First movement.
However, Haley and DeSantis held similar positions while still trying to appeal to those who like Trump and hold similar ideological stances. Haley stated that the ruling was 'truly unthinkable,' but when she said that she does not think Trump should be President, but that she should be, and the voters should be able to make that decision themselves. The response was similar to Never-Trump Chris Christie's and came off as arrogant, signaling she knows how the base feels without wanting to anger them too much.
While Haley's response was weak, none could get weaker than the statement from Ron DeSantis. Not only did DeSantis not holistically condemn the decision as attacking Trump because it is who the deep state despises, but he even refused to say the President's name at all when mentioning the case. He just compared it through a 'whataboutism' perspective as to how the left would react if Republicans took Biden off of the ballot before going on to talk about how Democrats have a 'playbook' that works from the man whose entire political career stemmed from a 2018 GOP Primary endorsement from Trump himself. DeSantis could not even have the gall to call Trump by his name in a historic use of tyrannical, judicial overreach.
These are the types of Republicans the GOP cannot afford to have led the party any longer. While Vivek Ramaswamy's position is admired, the rest of the field is blatantly rooting for Trump to be indicted again, or worse, so one of them could become the GOP's nominee. They do not care about the left attacking conservatives but instead want to further line their pockets and seek power.
The positions held by Christie, Haley, and DeSantis are exactly why voters will unite around President Trump. They are tired of being targeted by their government and those in power and know only one man is willing to take blow after blow for the sake of what is right and what can fix the country.
GOP voters are ready to see President Trump back in office in the ultimate rejection of the deep state, the military-industrial complex, and the uni party establishment. They will elect him in 2024 as their nominee and the 47th President of the United States.
