A shocking video showed a politician walking into a village council meeting in Ukraine Friday and dropping 3 detonated grenades on the ground before they exploded, leaving 26 people injured, and 6 in grave condition. The incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism, the New York Post reports.

The meeting, held by The Keretsky Village Council in Ukraine's Western Zakarpattia region, was livestreamed.

In the recorded clip first shared by the Ukrainian National Police, Serhiy Batryn, a member of Ukraine's parliament, can be seen entering a small, crowded room of seated people and standing at the door, blocking it.

He then interrupts an ongoing argument about finances and yells, "May I speak?" before casually removing three hand grenades from his pockets and tossing them on the ground in the middle of the confused participants.

The recording of the meeting captures three violent explosions as people scream and run for cover in the smoke-filled room.

The attack injured 26 people, 6 of whom are gravely wounded and have been hospitalized, according to officials. Batryn was initially reported as dead but it was later clarified that he was in critical condition after being resuscitated.

The council meeting was held to approve the 2024 budget for the village. An argument ensued when Batryn insisted a full report on the 2023 budget should be given before planning for the 2024 budget. He then left the room and returned about 3 minutes later with the grenades.

It was also reported by the news Telegram channel Zakarpattya24 that Batryn was involved in an ongoing feud with the village chief Mikhail Mushka. He voted against deeming the village chief’s job performance satisfactory and against a 50% pay increase for Mushka.

Batryn is a deputy from President Zelensky's Servant of the People Party.
