The Spanish authorities arrested six German men who have been accused of raping an 18-year-old woman on the island of Mallorca, an island widely considered to be vacation spot.

The police in Playa de Palma on Spain’s Mallorca island apprehended six German met on Thursday after they allegedly gang raped the victim in a hotel room earlier that morning, per New York Post.

All of the men are between the ages of 20 and 21.

The female victim was reportedly with a group of friends visiting the Playa de Palm Boulevard, which is known for its bars and nightclub scene.

The alleged victim met one of the German men and had drinks with him before going to his hotel room. It is alleged that when she attempted to leave the room, the suspects prevented her from doing so and raped her.

The attack happened around 3:40 am on Thursday, according to the victim’s police statement.

The statement said that when she eventually fled the scene, she reported what happened to the receptionist, who then called the police.

Five of the six men were arrested right away. The sixth suspect was arrested later Thursday.

Gang rape can carry a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison under Spanish law.

A British tourist was arrested in May, at the Palma Airport in Mallorca, after being accused of raping his son’s female friend and allegedly trying to leave the country, according to the Daily Mail.
