Opponents To Florida Parental Rights Bill: Don’t Say We Want to Sexualize Your Children

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are living in a world that seems to be a vicious aggregation of George Orwell’s 1984 and Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Politicians on the left are increasingly so divorced from reality that what they say has absolutely nothing to do with what they are identifying.  Are you sick and tired of hearing about the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” that was allegedly crafted in in Florida and signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis? Do you want to run to your window, open that window and shout “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore” in a frenzied moment inspired by the great media satire “Network””?

I do. This supposedly pernicious bill, is officially called the Parental Rights in Education and it bans school employees or third parties from teaching children in kindergarten through third grade about  "sexual orientation" or "gender identity.”

How absolutely shocking. The word “gay” isn’t even in the bill as I’m sure you’ve heard but that hasn’t stopped the left-wing media and left-wing politicians like your president, Joe Biden, from repeating that lie ad nauseum.

“I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve,” tweeted Biden or one of the woke hacks in his office in response to the Florida bill.

Of course Biden hasn’t read the bill, if he’s reading anything more than the newspaper comic strips these days, but that wouldn’t matter anyway. He just has to keep repeating the lie. The opponents of this bill might as well be called it the “Don’t Say Hitler” bill because that’s exactly how ridiculous this “debate” has become.

If you really want to view some ribald hypocrisy, go no further than New York City Mayor Eric Adams, that thundering disappointment of a municipal politician, who actually had the gall to suggest that people in Florida should come streaming to his state and city because there in his neighborhood freedom reigns. He’s actually erecting billboards in Florida advertising that delusion.

“Other folks want people to hide their color. We like to show our color and this rainbow is representative of this community,” Adams said in front of miniature posters of the billboards that declare: “Come to the city where you can say whatever you want.”

It’s hard to know what is the crueler joke: that the Florida bill has anything to do with saying gay or that “you can say whatever you want” in New York City. On the same day that he declared the Big Apple a free speech zone he fired a New York City employee for daring to question his mask mandate for toddlers.

Yes, you can say whatever you want in New York City. We just didn’t mention the consequences.

What the opponents of this bill are really saying is that “Don’t Say That I Want To Sexualize Your Children.” That’s really what’s on the menu here. And just think about this for a minute. There used to be a time when people who approached your children with sexually explicit material were called perverts and whisked away by police. Now we want these people to teach our children.

Especially in New Jersey, where the state has enshrined the sexualization of children in its school curriculum.

One lesson plan, "Purple, Pink and Blue," tells teachers how they should be informing their first graders about gender identity with a view to defining "gender, gender identity and gender role stereotypes."

That is followed by having students identify "at least two things they’ve been taught about gender role stereotypes and how those things may limit people of all genders."

"Gender identity is that feeling of knowing your gender. You might feel like you are a boy, you might feel like you are a girl," the lesson plan states. "You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts. You might feel like you’re a girl even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘boy’ parts."

It’s enough to make you run to the bathroom. Is this the sort of sewage you would have wanted to endure as a child? Would you want your child to endure it?

Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) has said absolutely nothing about the education policy. Why? You would think as a good Democrat he would be following the lead of his woke president and getting out in front of this didactic measure, bravely calling it the “Say Gay” policy whose time has come for New Jersey. But no, the governor barely won reelection last November after his rolling lockdowns and outright dismissal of the Bill of Rights.

He knows he is already on shaky ground over Critical Race Theory in the state and rebuffing parents who thought they should have some say in their children’s education. New Jersey parents, just like Florida parents, really don’t want creepy teachers to talk to their children about sexual matters.

Let children be children.

But Democrats can’t do that. They are clearly planning for the next generation and hoping the current one will eventually die off with its antiquated ideas.

Of course, there is nothing new to this political strategy and it has been utilized by all totalitarian regimes with devastating but always short-term results. Because ultimately warped thinking betrays itself. It is not self-perpetuating because it is a lie and those who force it on the population have to keep designing new ways to make the mendacity believable or at least palatable.

The “Don’t Say Gay” farce is indeed Orwellian in its outright attempt to claim that black is white but it is only the latest example from the woke left and from the Biden administration to attempt to demonstrate that what we see isn’t really what we are going to get. Biden has an uncanny ability to deny the facts in front of his face and yours. Although he continues to suggest that Americans are going to go to war in Ukraine despite there being a real danger of a nuclear confrontation with Russia, he also continues to deny he has ever said any such thing, just as he clearly lied about never having discussed Hunter Biden’s business affairs when it is patently obvious to even the most casual observer that he would have had to.

But we might forgive Biden’s chronic lapses these days because he is clearly not well and not operating at peak efficiency – to be kind.

It is the left-wing cadre around him, those in academia and the media who knowingly and willingly lie to you about what they are doing in the school system, that should make our blood boil.

It may seem like an overreaction to describe the indoctrination of children as akin to the Hitler Youth of Nazi Germany or the Young Pioneers of the Soviet Union but the goal is the same: for the state to replace parents in the raising of our children. If it seems like we are living in a sort of theater of the absurd writ large, if you feel that political statements are becoming more ridiculous and outrageous in their demands and assumptions, if you are beginning to wonder why so much of the political discourse resembles the ramblings of an insane asylum, it is because the left is running out of momentum, out of steam, out of its own narcissistic glow.

Ordinary Americans are beginning to run to their windows. They are mad as hell and they aren’t going to take it anymore. And those midterms are coming.

And the Republicans had better deliver some change and not more of the same capitulation to the status quo.
