The Boston father of three who was reportedly taken off the heart transplant list because of his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine has undergone emergency surgery to be fitted with a mechanical heart pump.

As previously reported by Human Events News, 31-year-old D.J. Ferguson was originally at the top of the transplant list, but was deemed ineligible after his vaccine refusal due to hospital policy.

D.J. is a father of two with a third baby on the way, and is becoming too weak to move as his family considers their options.

“We are aggressively pursuing all options, but we are running out of time,” his father, David, said. “I think my boy is fighting pretty damn courageously and he has integrity and principles he really believes in and that makes me respect him all the more.”

On Tuesday, Ferguson received a mechanical heart pump - called a ventricular assist device - that should keep him alive for up to five years, the New York Post reports

“For the foreseeable future, he won’t be able to shower, he won’t be able to swim. He won’t be able to have a life,” David said.

Despite the pump, Ferguson still desperately needs a transplant due to his rapid deterioration.

“He got led down a path where they had to stop doing procedures where they said he was qualified nonetheless for the heart transplant,” his parents told Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “But he had to get the vaccine in order to get the transplant.”

“He’s deteriorated so much so quickly that they had to resort to open-heart surgery and doing the LVAD mechanical pump,” David said. “So now my boy has a pump, he’s in recovery. He went through seven hours of surgery.”
