A Florida bill restricting employers’ ability to mandate COVID-19 vaccines passed the state legislature Wednesday and now heads to Gov. Ron DeSantis for a signature.
Following a House vote earlier in the day, Florida’s Senate approved the bill along party lines in a 24 to 14 vote, Just the News reports.
The new law would prohibit schools, local governments and businesses from mandating vaccines, but employers could enact mandates if they allow for religious and medical exemptions.
Large companies could face a fine of up to $5,000 if they don’t comply with the new law, while smaller businesses would be charged $10,000.
Once signed, the bill would remain in effect until June of 2023.
