Dr. Fauci expressed support Sunday for a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children attending school in-person.
“I believe that mandating vaccines for children to appear in school is a good idea,” Fauci said in a CNN interview. “We’ve done this for decades and decades, requiring polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis.”
As reported by Just the News, children under the age of 12 are not yet eligible to get the vaccine, however, pharmaceutical companies are working on one.
Fauci expects there will be enough data by October for the FDA to consider whether the vaccine is safe for children under 12.
He said there was a “reasonable chance” Pfizer or Moderna vaccines could get FDA approval prior to the holidays.
