United Airlines has completed its first Afghanistan rescue mission as part of the Civil Reserve Air Fleet, tasked with evacuating American citizens and personnel, Special Immigrant Visa applicants and other at-risk individuals.
As reported by Fox News, the flight arrived at Dulles International Airport in Virginia with approximately 340 evacuees on board.
Over 8,000 United employees are all-in on assisting with evacuation efforts, including pilots, flight attendants, aviation maintenance technicians and employees who are able to interpret other languages.
“While we are unable to publicly share additional operational details regarding flight schedules, city pairs and timing, we will continue to fly these missions over the next several days at least,” a United spokesperson said.
Other airlines assisting with evacuation efforts include American Airlines, Atlas Air, Delta Airlines, Omni Air and Hawaiian Airlines.
