President Trump will fight any attempt by the Treasury Department to turn over his tax returns to Congress, according to his lawyer.

“There is no evidence of any wrongdoing here and I object to the release of the returns not only on behalf of my client but on behalf of all future holders of the office of the president of the United States,” Ronald Fischetti, Trump’s lawyer, said Monday.

As previously reported by Human Events News, the Department of Justice Friday announced it is requiring the IRS to release the former president’s tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.

The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel said the committee showed “sufficient reasons” to validate its request to review Trump’s taxes,

A judge asked the parties to lay out a time frame for written arguments by Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reports. However, it could take months before the judge comes to a final decision.
