A majority of voters believe that the House committee tasked with investigating the January 6 Capitol riot is biased, according to a new survey.

The Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey revealed that 58 percent of voters believe the committee, set up by Nancy Pelosi, is biased, while 42 percent believe it’s fair, The Hill reports.

“Americans want an examination of the riots over the summer and the origins of the virus over investigating Jan. 6th,” Mark Penn, co-director of the survey, said. “The voters reject the Pelosi move to toss Republicans off of the committee and see it now as just a partisan exercise.”

Indeed, Pelosi hand-selected the republican representatives to serve on the committee with a clear motive. Last month, she tapped Rep. Adam Kinzinger to serve alongside Rep. Liz Cheney, both of whom have spoken out against Trump. She blocked Rep. Jim Jordan and Jim Banks from serving on the panel, both of whom are pro-Trump.

“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee,” Pelosi said in her rejection statement last month.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called it what it is: “an egregious abuse of power.”
