The Consumer Price Index rose 0.9 percent in June, after only rising .6 percent in May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics via Just the News.
The increase marks the largest 1-month change since June 2008, when the index rose 1 percent.
Over the last year, the all-items index increased 5.4 percent before seasonal adjustment, which was the largest year increase since a 5.4 percent increase in August 2008.
As the economy continues to recover from the coronavirus shutdowns, the increase puts inflation at the highest annual rate in 13 years.
