A Texas congressman told Human Events he cannot support the immigration solution negotiated secretly by Democratic and Republican senators and released Jan. 28 to the public.

The Texan said one of the biggest problems he has is with how the senators ignore the problem of human trafficking, which is a major part of the illegal immigration from Latin American countries, Rep. Stephen E. Stockman (R-Texas), whose district is in the southeast Texas.

???Our failure to secure our border has led to horrific, tragic stories of innocents brutally smuggled into the United States to serve as slave labor, and thousands of young girls forced into prostitution,??? he said.

???It is largely young Hispanic girls who suffer from this failure,??? he said.

???I will not be supporting the Senate???s proposed ???immigration reform??? should it reach the House,??? he said

It is unfair to legal immigrants, who followed the rules, that they will have equal status with those who flouted the law, he said.

???It insults the many legal immigrants who have spent tremendous time and money seeking legal residence,??? he said. ???The surge of illegals also strains relations with legal Hispanic citizens, many of whom come from families who have been in the United States longer than most white residents.???

Stockman, who spent many years working at IBM before his public service career, said, ???The Senate???s proposed plan does not fix our nation???s broken immigration system.  It rewards law breaking and encourages a new flood of illegals, perpetuating the very problems it claims to solve.???

The congressman said, ???Our nation???s failed experiments with amnesty have proven it only encourages more illegals willing to wait it out for their turn at free citizenship.???
