An illegal alien nearly hit a police car in Framingham, Massachusetts last Wednesday night, after rolling through a stop sign. According to the MetroWest Daily News, the driver blew .14 on a Breathalyzer test, far exceeding the state legal limit of .08. He was charged with driving under the influence, driving to endanger, and failing to use his turn signal. To add insult to near-injury, he was driving an SUV – the mechanical incarnation of demonic evil to many liberals.
This particular illegal alien has an outstanding deportation order from Immigration and Customs Enforcement against him, so he’ll surely be packed off to his country of origin, right?
Not so fast. The alien in question is Onyango Obama, a 67-year-old Kenyan, who is evidently the uncle of President Barack Obama. His sister would be the fabled Auntie Zeituni, also an illegal alien, who made a joke of America’s immigration laws by somehow winning legal status after ignoring a deportation order for six years.
Kerry Picket at the Washington Times reports that Onyango Obama wasn’t shy about invoking his connection to the White House:
I spoke to Framingham Public Information Officer Lieutenant Delaney who told me that when Onyango Obama was asked at booking if he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail, the Kenyan immigrant replied: "I think I will call the White House."
I could find no confirmation that the White House took his call, or relayed it to Martha’s Vineyard.
Warner Todd Huston at Big Journalism marvels at the mainstream media’s absolute lack of interest in this profoundly embarrassing story, illustrating it by posing a hypothetic question with an obvious answer:
Now, one would think it would be big news that President Obama’s illegal alien uncle was arrested for drunk driving and is now being held for possible deportation. But few mentions of the incident have made “the news.” Worse, even many of the ones that did mention it never mention that this is President Obama’s uncle!
I mean, imagine if President Bush had had a relative that was an illegal alien — say from Mexico, or something — that was arrested for drunk driving and damaging a police vehicle? Don’t you rather think that the Old Media would make this story numero uno for days? So, why have the big newsies ignored this story? I wish I could say.
The really embarrassing thing about this story is that it doesn’t matter if Onyango Obama or Auntie Zeituni were able to use their connections to the royal Obama court to escape deportation. You don’t have to be related to the President to mock U.S. immigration law.
