Donald Trump put on a triumphant face in New Hampshire after President Obama released a copy of his long form birth certificate.

“I’m very proud of myself because I’ve accomplished something that nobody has been able to accomplished,” Trump told reporters in New Hampshire.

Many prominent Republicans responded.

On Twitter, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) quipped, “What President Obama should really be releasing is a jobs plan.”

Also on Twitter, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (@SarahPalinUSA) tweeted and shifted the focus to the upcoming testimony of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke: “Media: admit it, Trump forced the issue. Now, don't let the WH distract you w/the birth crt from what Bernanke says today. Stay focused, eh?”

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement that that this was a distraction and that  “our economy is strained from out-of-control deficits, debt, and unsustainable entitlements. The president ought to spend his time getting serious about repairing our economy, working with Republicans and focusing on the long-term sustainability of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.”

President Obama said in a press conference after releasing his birth certificate that “we do not have time for this kind of silliness … I've got better stuff to do."

And after calling for people to be more serious and an end to silliness, Obama showed he had “better stuff” to do by flying with his wife Michelle to Chicago to not discuss foreign policy or our national debt crisis, but to film an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Obama then showed up at a swanky fundraiser in New York while the South was being pummelled by tornadoes.

Talk about silliness.
