Video: Petraeus Reveals Obama Bypassed Military

Pentagon not consulted on when to pull out of Afghanistan.

At Tuesday’s confirmation hearing of David Petraeus to head ground efforts in Afghanistan, the four-star general stated that no one in the military had ever recommended President Obama’s mandatory Afghanistan withdrawal date of July 2011.

Ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain (R.-Az) asked Petraeus if at “any time during the deliberations that the military shared with the President when he went through the decision making process, was there a recommendation from you or anyone in the military that we set a date of July 2011?”

“There was not,” answered Petraeus.

“There was not by any military person that you know of?” repeated McCain.

“Not that I am aware of,” said Petraeus.
