Rob is right to be outraged that GOPers are giving Ronald Reagan Awards to congressmen “for their work in promoting the Medicare Prescription Drug program.” It is a sham and a shame that those willing to bloat the federal government and brag about it would be honored with an award with Reagan's name attached.
On the Medicare spending issue, The Wall Street Journal also has a short item today about a Greenspan appearance in New York last night ("Greenspan Expresses Concerns On Derivatives, Medicare Costs" - subscription required).
Here's the pertinent paragraph:
Mr. Greenspan also repeated a warning to lawmakers, saying Medicare spending is unsustainable and could one day drive government debt and interest rates substantially higher.
When this happens, do you suppose we can look into getting those Ronald Reagan Awards revoked?
