Rep. Jeff Flake (R.-Ariz.) spotted this week's egregious earmark buried deep in the Transportation-Treasury-HUD appropriations bill (H.R. 3058) for fiscal year 2006.
Students in Free Enterprise World Headquarters in Missouri are getting $750,000 for "capital improvements."
"By serving up this generous helping of pork, Congress has told these 'students in free enterprise' to throw away their Adam Smith textbook," said Flake. "There's such a thing as a free lunch after all."
The bill made it through the House last year, passing 392-31, on November 18, and flew through the Senate the same day by unanimous consent. On November 30, President Bush signed the bill into law.
