Contained in the Agriculture appropriations bill (H.R. 2744) for fiscal year 2006 is $229,000 to further dairy education in Iowa.

"This may sound cheesy but somebody needs to tell Congress, 'that's nacho money,'" said Rep. Jeff Flake (R.-Ariz.), who decided to highlight the pork project as his "egregious earmark of the week."

The conference report for the Agriculture appropriations bill passed the House, 318-63, on October 28. It won overwhelming approval in the Senate, 81-18, on November 3. President Bush signed the $100 billion bill into law on November 10.
