Many corporations are clamoring to get in the good graces of the Big Green lobby. This lobby is made up of groups like Greenpeace, Sierra Club, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Nature Conservancy. Multi-billion dollar giants like General Electric and Proctor & Gamble are leading the pack by embracing environmentalists and leftists' concerns about global warming, animal testing and, yes, gay marriage. Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. CEO Hank Paulsen goes a step further by chairing the board of Nature Conservancy. In today's Wall Street Journal article "The CEO as Global Corporate Ambassador," Alan Murray writes that many CEOs' job descriptions are evolving into a "global political role."

Given that the economic interests of many corporations seem to be at odds with the interests of these radical environmental groups, I can't help but wonder if this phony corporate responsibility is really just limousine liberal guilt.
