Poll Results: McCain Would Beat Clinton

A poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion shows that two-thirds of Americans believe that Hillary will run for president in 2008, but only one-third believe she can win.  It also has John McCain beating Sen. Clinton, 52% to 42%, while Hillary and Rudy Giuliani were running about even.

However, the poll at least showed Hillary beating Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who 80% of Americans don’t think can the White House either.  Other decent - but obvious - news for Hillary is that the poll showed that she is the leading Democratic presidential contender, with 33% of potential primary voters supporting her, and her closest competition is Al Gore (17%) and John Edwards (16%).
