In case anyone needed a reminder that HEO is seen by many as the center of the conservative movement, including many Democrats, check out Drudge's story about the DNC's opposition research on 10 possible 2008 GOP presidential candidates.
According to Drudge, Howard Dean's DNC sent out an email containging "ten opposition research packets on potential 2008 GOP presidential contenders."
Who were the 10? Here's more from Drudge:
The ten Republicans picked by the Democrat Party include: Sen. George Allen (R-VA), Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN), Gingrich, Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY), Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Gov. George Pataki (R-NY) and Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA).
When I read this report, I thought there was something very familiar about this list.
I was right, HEO has been running a "2008 Presidential Poll" that included those 10 names (plus former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and Sec. State Condoleezza Rice). I'm not sure I believe the DNC could have come up with this list of 10 on their own.
