After the Senate voted 58 to 42 to confirm Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, Sen. Trent Lott (R.-Miss.) told Human Events: "Republicans don't have much going for us right now, but if Kennedy and Biden and Kerry keep talking we'll be okay." Of Alito, Lott said: "He'll be fine. … My only problem with him [laughing], is he is a nerd. He was always a nerd."
