Soldier’s Words Create a Stir

I'm sure I wasn't the only one extremely touched by the words President Bush quoted from Marine Staff Sergeant Dan Clay, who was killed last month fighting for freedom in Fallujah.

Here is the excerpt, for those who missed it:

"[Clay] left behind a letter to his family, but his words could just as well be addressed to every American. Here is what Dan wrote: 'I know what honor is. It has been an honor to protect and serve all of you. I faced death with the secure knowledge that you would not have to…. Never falter!  Don’t hesitate to honor and support those of us who have the honor of protecting that which is worth protecting.'

Clay's wife and parents were then asked to stand and received a standing ovation from all corners of the room. It was nice to see Democrats and Republicans honor America's soldiers together.
