The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an Islamic advocacy group applauded the defeat of the Patriot Act Extension today, that the Senate rejected 52-47. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist failed to invoke cloture as promised and Republicans voting against reauthorization were: Larry Craig, Chuck Hagel, Lisa Murkowski and John Sununu. In a press release sent immediately after the vote Frist said, ??¢â???¬?????Those opposing reauthorization of the Patriot Act are forcing our law enforcement officers to take a dangerous step backwards.We need to remember that it??¢â???¬â???¢s the terrorists, not our law enforcement officers, who are our enemy in the War on Terror.??¢â???¬
