Even before the midterm elections of 2006, a group has been organized to urge former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to seek the Republican nomination for President in 2008.

Last month, Nicholas Tyszka and Allen Fore, both of whom are aligned with the libertarian-leaning Heartland Institute, filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to form a committee for the purpose of drafting Giuliani.

News of the committee made the London Financial Times, which pointed out that Giuliani’s biggest road block was that “a New York City Republican is called something else in large swatches of the U.S: a liberal.”
