In a witless and racially demeaning offering this week, cartoonist Jeff Danziger depicted the neat and erudite Dr. Rice as slovenly and illiterate. Yet, Danziger was merely chiming in with fellow liberal cartoonists Pat Oliphant and Garry Trudeau. Oliphant this week drew Rice as a big-lipped parrot, while earlier this year Trudeau depicted President Bush calling Rice by the nickname "brown sugar." You will not be surprised to learn that Danziger is syndicated by . . . The New York Times.
