As Rep. Denise Majette (D.-Ga.) leaves her safe House seat to try to replace conservative Sen. Zell Miller (D.), she told HUMAN EVENTS she will not endorse anyone to succeed her in Georgia's 4th Congressional District. Asked about the possible return of far-left Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D.-Ga.)-whom Majette defeated in a 2002 primary-Majette strongly hinted she would not like to see McKinney return to Washington, but would not explicitly say so. "That's up to the voters of the 4th District," she said. Polls show McKinney now leading a field of five candidates.
