Yesterday, the California Supreme Court ruled a perpetrator can be convicted for two homicides in the killing of a pregnant woman, even if he is unaware of the pregnancy. The decision stated that "there is no requirement the defendant specifically know of the existence of each victim" and is viewed as a boost for the state's own version of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.
Writing for the majority was Justice Janice Rogers Brown, one of President Bush's judicial nominees currently being held up by Senate Democrats for, among reasons, her pro-life rulings.
