Twitter announced on Tuesday that it will pilot an edit feature.

The Big tech giant made the announcement in a tweet, saying it will test the possible feature in the next few months “to learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.”

Specifically, the feature will be tested on Twitter Blue, the platform’s paid model.

“Without things like time limits, controls, and transparency about what has been edited, Edit could be misused to alert the record of the public conversation. Protecting the integrity of that public conversation is our top priority when we approach this,” Twitter’s vice president of consumer product Jay Sullivan said in a tweet, per The Hill, adding that the company intended to “approach this feature with care and thoughtfulness.”

Sullivan said that the feature was the most requested change the company has had for years.

Twitter added in its announcement that they “didn’t get the idea from a poll,” a reference to a Monday tweet from Elon Musk, the newest member of the company’s board of directors.
