Los Angeles County on Wednesday lifted its outdoor mask mandate, allowing people to go maskless at more places including schools and sporting events.

“With significant improvement in community transmission rates, we’re looking forward to realigning our safety measures while continuing as always to ensure protections for our workers and our most vulnerable residents,” Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

Under the updated mask guidelines, individuals will be allowed maskless outside of K-12 schools, childcare facilities and outside of “mega” events at venues like the Hollywood Bowl and the SoFi Stadium, The Hill reports.

Residents are still required to wear masks indoors.

The county’s revised guidelines went into effect the same day that California state government ended its universal indoor mask mandate, moving to only require masks in certain indoor settings - including hospitals and schools.

Ironically enough, the move also comes after countless Hollywood celebrities were spotted - and filmed - maskless at the Super Bowl, hosted at SoFi stadium.
