“Anyone’s who done the prevent training knows it only talks about the far right. Islam extremism isn’t even mentioned,” wrote a user, who is now being targeted.

It has been revealed that British officials have created a database of groups and individuals who have take their criticism of the UK government to social media. The monitoring raises questions about freedom of expression and the right to dissent, critics said.

Metro obtained data showing Brits, who have expressed negative views on X and Reddit about the government's anti-terror training program Prevent, are actively being monitored.

This includes individuals who shared dissatisfaction that right-wing extremism was featured in the training, while there was no mention of Islamic terrorism, the user alleged.

The outlet obtained a list of roughly 80 critical posts that were being monitored by the Standards and Compliance Unit (StaCU). The group oversees Prevent.

A large chunk of the comments logged for investigation are claims of Prevent being “biased.” This includes how it trains government staffers on how to spot early signs of radicalization, the paper reported.

According to the obtained data, an X user who called the training “complete bullsh*t” ended up on the list. The user wrote: “Anyone’s who done the prevent training knows it only talks about the far right. Islam extremism isn’t even mentioned.”

Another social media user was featured on the list for writing that they “sat through Prevent training at work … and the narrative was very much that the far right is the biggest threat. I kid you not!”

Other individuals who shared hesitations about Muslims were also included in the database, as well as those who were just simply critical of the program.

The conservative group Open Right told the paper that they were “deeply concerned” that they were being monitored by the government because of their critical posts.

“Prevent has expanded far beyond its stated aim of identifying people considered ‘vulnerable to radicalization,’ and has increasingly been used to justify extensive surveillance,” said the program manager for Open Right.

“It is deeply concerning to see the Prevent duty being used to enable the monitoring of people and organizations simply because they are critical of the program. That raises serious questions about freedom of expression and the right to dissent and protest.”

In recent years, the UK government has targeted conservative protesters for demonstrating against mass illegal immigration, which has resulted in an influx of individuals from Muslim countries. There have been many attacks carried out by radical Islamists against the British people as a result.
