"Why do you have to meet with your team to find out whether or not you’re going to send some minesweepers to us or to send some boats?"

President Donald Trump delivered an update on the Iran conflict Monday, slamming the UK and its prime minister for their approach while providing a detailed account of US military operations. Speaking at a Washington, DC press conference, Trump said he is “not happy” with the UK, claiming Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer relies too heavily on advisers, reports GB News.

Referring to a decision about deploying a British warship to the Gulf, Trump said, "I don’t need advisers to tell me that – I know what it is. You know, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom yesterday told me: ‘I’m meeting with my team to make a determination’,” Trump said. “I said: ‘You don’t need to meet with the team. You’re the Prime Minister, you can make [up] your [mind]. Why do you have to meet with your team to find out whether or not you’re going to send some minesweepers to us or to send some boats?’”

He added, “I said, 'You don’t have to meet with your team. It’s the same thing here. I can tell you that when this is over, oil prices are going to go down very, very rapidly. So is inflation, so is everything else.”

Trump also slammed other nations for being “less enthusiastic” in providing support. “I was not happy with the UK. I think they’ll be involved, maybe, but they should be involved enthusiastically,” he said. “We’ve been protecting these countries for years with NATO, because NATO is us. You can ask Putin. Putin fears us. He doesn’t fear, he has no fear of Europe whatsoever.”

He pointed to ongoing US military actions against Iran, saying: “Our powerful military campaign ending the threats posed by the Iranian regime continued in full force over the past few days. They have been literally obliterated. The Air Force is gone, the Navy is gone, many ships have been sunk. Their war fighting ships, I guess they didn’t know how to use them, and anti-aircraft is decimated. Their radar is gone and their leaders are gone. Other than that, they’re doing quite well.”

Trump said more than 7,000 targets, both commercial and military, have been struck since the start of the conflict. He claimed a “90 per cent reduction in their ballistic missile launches and a 95 per cent reduction in drone attacks.”

He repeated a warning for nations reliant on the Strait of Hormuz, saying they “should be in here very happily helping us.” Trump also recalled his prior predictions about threats in the region: “I knew about the Strait, that it would be a weapon, which I predicted a long time ago.” He also emphasized that American troops have long protected NATO allies and warned that some countries have not reciprocated in providing support.
