34-year-old Jordan O’Brien, also referred to as Jennifer Nieve on social media and throughout the sentencing hearing, was found guilty in October of rape, assault by penetration, threatening with an offensive weapon, and other crimes. His sentencing on Thursday saw the judge say that the rape convictions involved at least 10 instances of sexual abuse.
“I have to sentence you for at least 10 occasions that you raped her. This was repeated offending,” Judge Tim Harrington said.
According to a report by Reduxx, O’Brien was accused of monitoring his victim’s cell phone, destroying her possessions, and verbally abusing her. He was also found to have raped the victim with a dildo, strangulated her, and threatened her with a knife.
In court, a victim statement was read aloud on her behalf that detailed the abuse she suffered.
“I don’t sleep for very long, and I’m up at all hours of the night,” the statement said. “If I am in a group of more than five people I suffer from anxiety. The impact has been long term and deeply damaging. I have lived for years with fear and anxiety.”
O’Brien had over 60,000 videos on social media detailing how he identifies as transgender. Following his conviction, several former associates spoke out against O’Brien and shed more light on his character. One person, his former roommate, who is a drag queen, condemned O'Brien on TikTok and said he was misled about the charges. He also said O’Brien lacked remorse during the trial.
“I’ve just got back from Manchester Crown Court where Jennifer Nieve has been sentenced. She was found guilty of rape, sexual assault by penetration, coercive control, and threatening with a weapon – which was knives… She had a stern face, with no remorse on her face,” the individual said, referring to O’Brien with female pronouns. “The judge said she will have a restraining order against her which will protect the victim and her child, and that will be indefinitely. Jennifer will also have to notify the police of where she lives for the rest of her life.”
It is believed that O’Brien will be housed in a men’s prison following a 2023 policy change that restricts trans-identifying individuals from being put in women’s housing.
