President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have signed a new bilateral trade agreement during the G7 leaders' summit in Alberta. The agreement, first announced in May and formalized at the summit, has been described by President Trump as “full and comprehensive.”

"We signed it and it's done, we have our trade deal with the [United Kingdom], it's a fair deal for both," Trump said when speaking to the press. Trump and Starmer were asked if anything in the trade deal had been changed since it was announced last month in the Oval Office, to which Trump replied, "not much" and Starmer quickly answered, "nope."

Per the Independentthe agreement includes a lowering of tariffs in the aerospace sector to zero, and tariffs on British automobiles will be lowered to 10 percent.

“In addition, the UK will reduce or eliminate numerous non-tariff barriers that unfairly discriminated against American products,” Trump said of the deal upon its announcement in May. “But this is now turning out, I think, really to be a great deal for both countries, because it will be really great for the UK also.”

Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come. Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement. Many other deals, which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow!”
