JACK POSOBIEC and GAVIN WAX: Hyper-globalization has left American cities broken, enriched foreign nations

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec spoke with Gavin Wax on Thursday, where the two discussed the devastating impact of wealth transfer from the United States to foreign nations, particularly China and Europe.

“Go look at images of Shanghai,” said Posobiec. “All the towering, glittering skyscrapers… People say, oh, this is all because of the Chinese Communist Party. No, it’s because of the wealth transfer from the American people to the Chinese Communist Party. Why do you think China looks like that and Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc., all look the way they do? It’s because of wealth transfer. Don’t get me started on the Rust Belt and the way those cities look like they lost a war when no invader has come there since the British in 1812. Gavin, what is going on?”

Wax agreed, saying that this economic phenomenon is central to the MAGA movement.

“We’re getting ripped off, our money’s getting squandered overseas… not just when it comes to China,” said Wax, later adding. “Many people look at China’s high-speed rail—their cities are very modern; their infrastructure is modern. Yes that’s the wealth transfer of the United States in action. It’s not from the genius of the CCP. They are cunning, but it’s mostly because they know how to rip us off. They aren’t creating that wealth themselves. They’re stealing it from the U.S.”

Wax went on to highlight how Europe has been benefiting from American financial contributions in a different way.

“Europe is stealing in a different way. We’re subsidizing their defense budgets for decades and allowing them to keep up their welfare states, allowing them to build their high-speed rail, that lefties like to talk about.”

According to Wax, these policies have led to a hollowing-out of American industry and infrastructure, preventing the country from reclaiming its former economic power.

“You can't have these sorts of beautiful cities; you can't have the return of this industry and these quality jobs… if you continue down this path of hyper-globalization where we're constantly sending our wealth abroad.”
