On New Year's Day, America saw two examples of domestic terrorism in action. With the explosion in Las Vegas of the Cybertruck outside of the Trump Hotel followed by the truck attack in New Orleans, America was witness to the left's insistence on using violence and destruction as a way of sending a political message to their opposition. On a day that was supposed to be a holiday, a clear symbol from the cultural Marxist left on how much President-elect Donald Trump, mega-donor Elon Musk, and the entire America First movement were despised was made evident. The vehicle burst into flames in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the United States, as well as one of the hubs of holiday celebrations in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, attacked by an ISIS sympathizer.
The abundance of ignorance we saw during the New Orleans New Year's attack was one of the worst public displays of a federal agency the United States has seen in its existence. Even after details arose about the attacker being an ISIS sympathizer, with its flag flying from the back of the truck he used to kill fifteen people, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Alethea Duncan told every American watching a press conference from Louisiana that the attack "was not a terrorist event." Eventually, the FBI admitted that the attack was being investigated as an act of terrorism. Still, the reputation of the organization was already depleted in its response to one of the most significant domestic terrorism attacks Americans have seen in the last decade.
At the state level, there was no better example of poor resource allocation when citizens eventually needed it for a natural disaster than in California. While wildfires have burned over 40.000 acres and one-hundred eighty thousand residents of California have had to evacuate from their homes, the state is running low on water to fight the wildfires.
Whether it was the focus of saving the delta smelt by Governor Newsom to curb the flow of water from farmers and cities to fill environmental needs or his refusal to sign a water conservation declaration back in 2020, the focus of Newsom to appease celebrities, billionaires, and private interest groups that focus on climate change instead of actual resources to help out his people is a blatant failure of leadership at best, or intentionally making his donors and friends happy at the worst.
Ideally, the right approach would be empowering the American people and their infrastructure and focusing on needs-based fund allocations to ensure that America's institutions are secure and that United States citizens are best protected from foreign and domestic threats. President-elect Donald Trump's America First movement has embodied giving a role in governmental change, policy advocacy, and allowing the people that government affects the most to have the power to amend it for the better.
As Inauguration Day approaches and America waits for President-elect Trump to enter office, local, state, and federal governments must prioritize their constituents' needs above all else in their business relationships.
America First does not put the issues of climate change, xenophobia, or virtue-signaling around social problems at the forefront of its focus. Instead, the movement prioritizes an emphasis on domestic policy by allowing local institutions to see what is going on in their region, get funding and aid based on that needs allocation, and then do with those resources what is best for the citizens that it is affecting the most.
