Adam Carolla tells Charlie Kirk California's DEI policies contributed to LA wildfires

"They say actions have consequences, but inactions have even bigger consequences."

Actor and comedian Adam Carolla detailed the horrific incompetence of California leadership amid the uncontrollable wildfires that have destroyed homes and lives over the past couple of days. He recounted how he had to abandon his home in Malibu and remains unsure of its status to Charlie Kirk on his podcast Thursday.

Carolla stated that the mass fires are the result of CA leaders "doing nothing," saying, "they say actions have consequences, but inactions have even bigger consequences."

He said that two main focuses of California's governing bodies have been "DEI hires and environment," with important issues such as infrastructure and water supply falling by the wayside. "But the real focus is on the environment and DEI and then this happens," Carolla said, adding "And this is no different than announcing you're a sanctuary city."

Kirk played Carolla's congressional testimony when he described being unsuccessful at landing a job as a firefighter in North Hollywood when he was 19 due to being a white male. He waited seven years to finally be invited to take the LA Fire Department exam, while it took a young black woman a couple of days.

"There are three fire chiefs that are all named Kristen, and they are all lesbian," Kirk said. "It's very hard to even comprehend that they are in charge of the Los Angeles Fire response."

Carolla noted that meritocracy would have triumphed over DEI ideologies in this scenario, had leaders and firefighters been given their roles based on skill and thoughtfulness. "We see it nationwide now, taking a bunch of incompetent people, shoving them into positions of power and expecting a result that we're not going to get, because this is what we're doing."

On Carolla's own podcast the day before, he tore into left-leaning celebrities who voted Democrats into power in California yet will quickly convert to Trump fans after they start hitting red tape put in place by these big government politicians when they start to try to rebuild their homes. "They're going to find out, they're going to get bit by their own snake. They're going to convert. I am telling you, these are the bluest people on the planet and they're going to be f*cking rip sh*t p*ssed when the City and the Coastal Commission tell them to f*ck off," he exclaimed. "This is why Californians pay the highest taxes. So that their government can completely fail them in their time of need."

Carolla provided an example of this to Kirk, when left-wing talk show host Bill Maher tried to get permits from the city to build a shack on his property and "now he hates red tape."

"You're going to have a bunch of blue liberal people who would like to rebuild their homes in Malibu and Santa Monica and the Palisade, and they're going to have to go through the permit process," he said. "And when they do, they're going to be converted to Donald Trump fans."
