Jack Posobiec launches 'The Chronicles of the Christians' podcast series

"We have a huge diversity of Christian churches that are not in accord with one another, are often very hostile to one another, and that should trouble us."

Following his award-winning podcast series on communism last December, Jack Posobiec has launched a new Human Events Daily series exploring the origins and history of Christianity entitled, "The Chronicles of the Christians."

Part 1, released on Thursday, explains the rise of Christianity. Posobiec and co-host Blake Neff detail the Great Schism of 1054, when the Roman Catholic Church of the west split from the church in the east, creating the Eastern Orthodox Church. At issue, Neff said, was the delineation of the Holy Spirit as proceeding from the Father and the son.

"If you are familiar with the Nicene Creed, it's where the Holy Spirit, we say in the West will say it proceeds from the Father and from the son in the eastern creed, it just proceeds from the Father. And this is a huge debate," Neff stated. "If we didn't have this dispute, the Great Schism might not have happened."

He explained how the churches thought the split would be temporary; however, they have remained separate thus far. "And that paves the way towards today, where you can say, unfortunately, we have a huge diversity of Christian churches that are not in accord with one another, are often very hostile to one another, and that should trouble us," Neff concluded.
