An investigation by the UN’s Office of Internal Oversight Services found that at least nine of their United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) staffers were active participants in the Hamas atrocities that resulted in the death of over 1,200 civilians and kidnapped over 250 more.
On Monday, UN representative Farhan Haq said, “For nine people, the evidence was sufficient to conclude that they may have been involved in the seventh of October attacks. For us, any participation in the attacks is a tremendous betrayal of the sort of work that we are supposed to be doing on behalf of the Palestinian people.”
The UN said all nine would be fired but did not reveal their names or the acts they had committed.
In February, Israeli authorities identified Faisal Ali Musalam Naami, one of the agency’s social workers as one of the agency’s employees who participated in the massacre. On October 7, he was caught on video carrying the body of an Israeli to his car and driving away with it.
Palestinian terrorists took many bodies during the massacre as bargaining chips and still hold the bodies of the victims and hostages including Americans.
Ella Emhoff, the daughter of Doug Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris and the second gentleman of the United States, encouraged her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers to donate to UNRWA a month after the allegations were made against the agency, and two months after the Biden administration paused funding for UNRWA after seeing evidence of the staffers' involvement in the atrocities.
Harris’ stepdaughter yanked the post after her actions were published by the media. At the time, Harris was advocating that the Biden administration show more empathy toward Palestinians in Gaza. Emhoff had previously raised funds for the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund which also has links to bad actors in Gaza.
Even though Doug Emhoff identifies as Jewish, Ella Emhoff does not. A spokesperson for Ella Emhoff told The Forward in 2021 “she does not want to speak on behalf of Judaism, as she does not celebrate herself.”
UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini, who previously criticized the US and other countries for cutting off funding to the organization following the allegations, said after the new report was revealed, “I have decided that in the case of these remaining nine staff members, they cannot work for UNRWA. All contracts of these staff members will be terminated.”
Israel presented UNRWA with documents showing at least 12 of the agency's employees participated in the Oct 7 massacre, some of whom were described as teachers and social workers. One was an Arabic instructor who was revealed to be a Hamas military commander who helped murder Israeli civilians at Kibbutz Be’eri. Israel has alleged that approximately 1,200 UNRWA employees have links to terrorists. UNRWA schools and hospitals are frequently revealed to have rocket launch sites, weapons and terror tunnels.
In January, UNRWA was named in a federal lawsuit alleging that the group “aided and abetted” the Oct. 7 massacre by sending $1 billion to Hamas meant to aid Gazans but was instead used to smuggle weapons and explosives.
