JD Vance tells Charlie Kirk the Democrats' 'soft coup' of swapping Kamala Harris for Joe Biden is 'profoundly anti-democratic'

Charlie Kirk hosted Ohio Senator JD Vance on his show Wednesday, during which they discussed the Democrats' "soft coup" of swapping Kamala Harris for Joe Biden as their presidential nominee, something Vance said is "profoundly anti-democratic."

"What I find so profoundly crazy about this, Charlie, is, for literally years, I have been told that my party is the threat to democracy because, you know, there was a riot on January 6th at the US Capitol, or because Donald Trump used constitutional means to try to challenge the results in 2020," Vance noted. "Now they basically had a bunch of Democrat billionaires get in a room with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and decide that the President of the United States wasn't allowed to run again. If that isn't a threat to democracy, I don't know what is."

Kirk, referring to Vance as the "future Vice President," showed a clip of Vance from his recent rally in Michigan, in which Vance clapped back at Kamala Harris' claim that Vance has "no loyalty to this country."

"Well, I don't know Kamala," Vance told supporters in Michigan, "I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What the hell have you done other than collect the check?"

"What on earth is she even talking about there?" Kirk asked his guest. Vance explained that the current Vice President was implying that he was "only loyal to Donald Trump" but that "of course" he is loyal to his running mate Trump "because his agenda worked for the country." He pointed out that Harris has been a career politician yet cannot "point to a single significant accomplishment."

Kirk inquired about Vance and his family's well-being after going from being unsure he would be Trump's Vice Presidential nominee to being thrust into "the spotlight of the most contested election in modern American history" after Trump announced his selection at the RNC. Vance told the host how proud of a husband he is of his wife Usha and how she made him "tear up" during her speech at the RNC convention. He called the life adjustment for his family "wild," especially now that they are surrounded by Secret Service agents at all times.

When asked about the apparent "soft coup" taking place as Harris replaces Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee for the 2024 election, he responded "it's profoundly anti-democratic," adding "Joe Biden obviously, was rejected by the American people. Now they're trying to send Kamala Harris out there."

Vance said he even would not be "shocked" if the DC Democrats switched their nominee yet again if Harris proves to be polling badly ahead of November. The Senator concluded by saying that his message to young men in America is that he and Trump believe "you should be able to raise your kids in safe neighborhoods, you should be able to afford a home, you should be able to buy groceries and put a nice meal on the table at a reasonable price, and that is what we're going to advance and argue the whole rest of the way."
