Israeli Olympic athletes receive threatening 'invitations' to their own 'funerals' ahead of Paris

The threats were reminiscent of the 1972 Olympics in Munich during which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.

Israeli athletes have received emails inviting them to their own funerals in advance of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. According to Israel Hayom, judoka Peter Paltchik, who will be bearing the Israeli flag at the opening ceremony, received one of the threats. Israeli swimmer Meiron Cheruti received a similar email that read, "You are invited to attend the funeral of Meiron Cheruti, deceased on July 27, 2024," with a link to the location of the event.

Paris has been a cesspool of antisemitism since Palestinian terrorists murdered over 1,200 Israeli civilians on Oct. 7, 2023, and kidnapped over 250 more. Following the election of a far-left bloc of candidates in France’s election earlier this month, Moshe Sebbag, a rabbi for the Synagogue de la Victoire, told The Times of Israel “It seems France has no future for Jews,” and recommended young French Jews to leave the country for Israel. The threats were reminiscent of the 1972 Olympics in Munich during which 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.

Last week, athletic company Adidas was slammed by critics for a Munich Olympics-themed ad featuring antisemitic model Bella Hadid. The German athletic company used the Palestinian supporting model to promote its SL 72 sneakers inspired by the 1972 Games. A German police officer was also killed by the terrorists.

On Thursday, Adidas apologized and announced it would be “revising” the ad following the “unintentional” reference to the terrorist attack. Adidas said in a statement, “We are conscious that connections have been made to tragic historical events — though these are completely unintentional — and we apologize for any upset or distress caused.”

The athletic company added, “As a result we are revising the remainder of the campaign. We believe in sport as a unifying force around the world and will continue our efforts to champion diversity and equality in everything we do.”
