A Palestinian flag could be seen waving from the leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. A video circulating on social media showed the long flag flowing in the wind while red smoke poured from the tower on Friday.

Reports reveal that a group of fifteen Italian students belonging to "antagonist" anticapitalist movements broke into the Tower of Pisa, got past security guards and raided the tower before hanging the flag from one of the top railings and lighting smoke bombs.

Videos were taken by stunned onlookers below.

The demonstration lasted a few minutes and no damage has been reported. Police believe the students came from a pro-Palestinian mob of around 500 people from earlier in the day that protested through the streets of the city to Piazza dei Miracoli, where Pisa's cathedral and bell tower are located.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
