REP. ELISE STEFANIK: Sorry Democrats, House Republicans are changing how Washington works

Speaker Johnson is changing the game, and Democrats need to get used to it.

Speaker Johnson is changing the game, and Democrats need to get used to it.

House Republicans are stronger than ever. Over the past few weeks, House Republicans had honest conversations, airing our opinions in productive and open discussions, ensuring every Member from all corners of the Republican Conference had their voice heard. As a result of those efforts, the entire House Republican Conference stood united and unanimously voted for Speaker Mike Johnson - a man of deep faith, the epitome of a servant leader, and someone who has dedicated his life to preserving America's great principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Since then, House Republicans wasted no time continuing our work for the American people. We immediately passed a resolution reaffirming our unequivocal support for our ally Israel, and their right to defend themselves following the barbaric terrorist attacks by Hamas. Then we passed three additional conservative appropriations bills to rein in Joe Biden and Democrats’ reckless and inflationary spending. These bills included major conservative policy victories such as repealing the dangerous and misguided Waters of the United States rule, making strategic investments in modernizing our nuclear weapons stockpile, and prioritizing energy security and economic competitiveness. To date, House Republicans funded 75 percent of the federal government. But, our work is not finished.

House Republicans know that the American people are hurting. Families are struggling under the pain of inflation caused by reckless Far Left spending, unable to afford groceries and everyday essentials. Our Northern and Southern Borders are in the midst of a historic crisis brought about by Joe Biden’s open border policies, jeopardizing our national security and turning every community into a border community. Israel is under attack by Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists committing atrocities, with the Jewish people suffering their bloodiest days since the Holocaust. Violent crime is surging in our streets while there are vicious calls from Extreme Democrats to defund our great men and women in blue. American energy production has been crushed by Joe Biden's radical, failed, Far Left Democrat policies causing seniors, farmers, and families to pay more at the pump. Americans fundamentally understand that Joe Biden has illegally weaponized the federal government against them, shredding the Constitution, targeting conservatives, parents, and even Biden’s top political opponent President Trump. The American people are looking to House Republicans to save America, and save America, we will.

In contrast with the failures of Joe Biden and Extreme Democrats, House Republicans continue to work hard to deliver on the priorities outlined in our Commitment to America– an economy that's strong, a nation that's safe, a future that's built on freedom, and a government that's accountable. Since taking the majority in January, House Republicans reopened the People’s House, ended the COVID-19 national emergency, passed the strongest border security bill in the history of Congress, passed an energy package that would lower costs for Americans and unleash American energy independence, defunded Joe Biden’s army of 87,000 IRS agents that would have targeted hardworking families and small businesses, and passed the Parents’ Bill of Rights, putting power back into the hands of parents when it comes to their child’s education. In each instance, the mainstream media doubted House Republicans, and each time they were proven wrong. Together, we will continue to do so.

When I nominated Speaker Johnson on the House Floor, I cited Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up." The American people sent us here to fight for America, and House Republicans will NEVER grow weary or give up, proving each day that we are here working for "We the People.”
