Charlie Kirk shared an old video on Wednesday, in light of the 16 Michigan Trump supporters who are being charged with conspiracy, among other charges. They are alleged to have put together an alternate slate of electors who would vote for Trump in the electoral college in the event that his recounts and lawsuits were succesful in securing him the presidency.

In light of this, Charlie Kirk shared an old video on Wednesday.

"Republican members of the electoral college, this message is for you," actor Martin Sheen began in the 2016 video. "Our founding fathers built the electoral college to safeguard the American people from the dangers of a demagogue, and to ensure that the presidency only goes to someone who is to an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications."

Other Hollywood personalities built upon Sheen's message, pointing out that of the 538 electoral college votes, only 37 of them would have to be changed to keep Trump out of office.

They urged GOP electors to "vote with your conscience," claiming they did not want them to choose Hilary Clinton instead, but simply "any eligible person." If that happened, the House of Representatives would be given the task of selecting a new president.

The group of performers went on to attack Trump, accusing him of not respecting the Constitution, before reiterating their support for any electors who abided by their request. None of the electors did, and Trump went on to be certified and assume the office of President of the United States.

Four years later, the situation was reversed, and Trump supporters attempted to influence the outcome of the electoral college. Suddenly, legal standards appeared to change.

"As part of this orchestrated plan, we allege that 16 Michigan residents met covertly in the basement of Michigan GOP Headquarters and knowingly and of their own volition signed their names to multiple certificates stating that they were 'the duly elected and qualified electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America for the State of Michigan'," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel explained in order to justify her doled out felony charges. "That was a lie."

"They carried out these actions with the hope and belief that the electoral votes of Michigan’s 2020 election would be awarded to the candidate of their choosing," she added, "instead of the candidate that Michigan voters actually chose."

Charlie Kirk called out the double standards, pointing out that "no one suggested throwing [the] celebs in the gulag."

"The alternate electors witch hunt is part of a multi-pronged attack so that Jack Smith can charge Trump with 'rebellion' and disqualify him from the 2024 ballot," Kirk continued, warning that "Michigan's Democrat AG is just the first to act."
