On May 12, Fatima Mohammed gave the commencement address at CUNY Law. Her speech, virulently anti-white, anti-American, and anti-semitic, went viral. Mohammed’s words were pre-approved by CUNY. Her freedom of speech isn’t the issue. CUNY’s violation of New York’s anti-BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) law is. Therefore, CUNY must be defunded.
Mohammed began her remarks with an Arabic message for God only knows why. She abandoned Yemen, the place she cited from which her family hails. Yemen, a third-world country, has around 15,000 women enrolled at Yemeni universities compared to 60,000 men. Both numbers are pathetic for a country with 32.98 million people, but clearly, women are disproportionately impacted in a place where “gender studies”, “diversity,” “equity,” and “inclusion” have yet to make a dent.
After the Arabic, Mohammed continued in English:
“To the graduating class of 2023… Like many of you, I chose CUNY School of Law for its articulated mission to be law in the service of human needs. One of very few legal institutions created to recognize that the law is a manifestation of white supremacy that continues to oppress and suppress people in this nation and around the world… I want to celebrate CUNY Law as one of the few, if not the only law school to make a public statement defending the right of its students to organize and speak out against Israeli settler colonialism. This is the law school that passed and endorsed BDS on a student and faculty level.”
Mohammed received thunderous applause from the graduates and faculty. Let that sink in.
It goes without saying that even if a portion of Mohammed’s rant was aimed at black people, every politician in America would be leading marches, schools would be bombarding their respective student bodies with emails on “systemic racism."
Almost none of the so-called equity advocates have weighed in. There was silence from Democrats on New York City Council, AOC, Public Health Advocate Jumaane Williams, and Comptroller Brad Lander.
Speaking of Lander, he recently froze deposits at Capital One and KeyBank for not providing an "anti-discrimination" plan. Ironic, because it is already illegal for banks to discriminate, even though they are - against whites. Bank of America offers no down payment mortgages to minorities. JP Morgan Chase announced a $30 billion commitment to advancing racial equity. And Wells Fargo is focused on lending to “minorities.” In other words, they’re discriminating.
Now, it’s past time to freeze deposits to CUNY. The school is rotten to its core.
CUNY has a Policy on Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination, and it is a hotbed of discrimination because, as the public is beginning to learn, “anti-discrimination” and “equity” means racism towards nearly everyone but black people, America haters, and anti-semites. Every Jew has been completely eliminated from CUNY's top-80 senior administration.
CUNY relies on funding from both the state and federal governments to support its operations. The New York State government allocates funds to CUNY in its annual budget which helps cover operating expenses, faculty salaries, infrastructure development, and student support services. Federal funding supports various programs and initiatives, as well as grants and financial aid to CUNY, enabling the university to offer scholarships, research opportunities, and other educational resources to its students. Furthermore, federal funding supports specific projects or research endeavors undertaken by CUNY faculty and students. It received $2.8 billion in governmental funding for 2022.
Taxpayers finance CUNY, and if Mohammed's speech is any indication, it may as well be a recruitment center for Hamas. Listening to Mohammed, whose racist and anti-semitic views harken back to failed ideas from centuries ago, it’s clear schools aren’t as bad as we think: they're worse. Imagine the mirthless joke of the most diverse city in the most diverse state in the most diverse country in the world banging on about “equity” and choosing a women to give a commencement address in New York City who has tweeted: “May every Zionist burn in the hottest pit of hell;" “I pray upon the death of the USA on a public platform but yolo (you only live once)v i [sic] guess.” or the call for jihad, “So, I come to you all today with a very short message and that is: glory to the martyrs…Glory to each and every single person throwing the stones.”
Mohammed's speech begs the question: If the law is a vestige of white supremacy, why would they follow the law, let alone become lawyers?
In the words of Mohammed, here’s why: “Our silence is no longer acceptable. We are the student body and faculty that fought back when investor focused admin attempted to cross the BDS picket line, saying loud and clear that Palestine (which doesn’t exist) can no longer be the exception to our pursuit of justice.. The fascist NYPD, the military that continues to train IDF soldiers to carry out that same violence globally. Let us remember that Gaza just this week has been bombed with the world watching, that daily, black and brown men are being murdered by the State at Rikers, that there are Palestinian prisoners in U.S. prisons, and that the murder of black men like Neely by a white man…is dignified.”
Somewhere along the line, CUNY didn’t teach Mohammed (lawyer) the meaning of “presumption of innocence.” Instead, they tought her that it's acceptable to hate white people, to hate Jews, and to hate America itself. CUNY provides the forum to make it possible. Taxpayers provide the funds. It's time to stop it.
