For Bowers and the trans activists Bowers represents, a woman is not an innate biological being, instead a woman is merely that which is perceived as a woman by society at large, based on the projections of the individual who is being perceived.
The trans activist answer to the question "What is a woman?" is that a woman is made up only of the symbols of womanhood, not the woman herself. The symbols of woman, and the women herself, are severed. Under this definition, a woman becomes the representation of womanhood, while the reality of woman is erased entirely.
A woman, for trans activists, is a conversation between projector and perceiver, between the one who wishes to be perceived and the one who interprets that manifested wish. Trans activists, in short, do not believe women are real, but that women are only an ephemera, a glimmer, a fantasy. They believe that the representation of woman is more woman than a biological woman.
In a letter to members of WPATH, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, Bowers said, "There is no biological measure, not chromosomes, not hormones, not anatomy, nor any of the six other biological markers of sex. A woman is what society sees based upon the gender identity the individual projects."
Bowers is trans, after having undergone gender transition as an adult. Bowers, who operated on famous trans kid Jazz Jennings, wishes to be perceived as a woman, and therefore attempts to project the fantastical woman out into the world.
But what Bowers is missing, as are any other trans activists who see woman as nothing more than a wish granted, is that to be a woman is an innate, unchangeable, and immutable condition. Under Bowers' definition, women only exist when they are seen; women are only women when they both present intentionally as women and are then viewed as such.
If a woman stands alone in the dark, she is no woman, by this trash definition.
But a woman is an adult human female. She is an adult human female whether she is presenting as such or not. She is an adult human female whether she is perceived by others to be one or not. A woman is not a social construct. A woman does not exist in order to be viewed. A woman exists whether she is seen or not.
Bowers and Bowers' WPATH chums believe woman is a construct, a being that exists to be seen. And what is this? This is the very same male perspective that came before the manifestation of modern sex-change medicine, the perspective that took women as something soley for the enjoyment of men and the furtherence of the species and nothing more.
Seen in this light, under the harsh glare of this definiton, gender ideology is nothing more that modern misogyny disguised as liberation. Under this new definition, there is no such thing as a biological woman; there is only the social perception of woman.
While men can medically transition, can grow their hair long, can look, act, and be perceived as women, they are not women.
A woman is a woman no matter how she looks, no matter who is looking or what they see. Bowers' fantasy female only exists under an affirming gaze. The woman of Bowers' imagination, the woman Bowers presents as, is only a woman when others imagine it too.
Alone, in the dark, with no spotlight, with no gaze, with no one to perceive the projected female, Bowers is not a woman.
