Though the GOP has its flaws, a glance at the sorts of policies that leftist progressives are pushing has made one thing clear: Parents need to vote GOP to save the children of America. Democrat policies, particularly those that seek to strip parents of their natural rights, will destroy America from within via nuclear family unit. If progressives have their way, the state will replace parents and narcissism will be the new religion.
The Senate bill percolating through Washington state’s legislature is a perfect example of this. Democrats just passed Senate Bill 5599, a bill that would allow Washington to hide “runaway” children from their parents if said parents fail to agree to their child’s desire to live as another gender, taking cross-sex hormones and doing sex-change surgeries. Abortion, too, is added in this bill. The bill strips parental rights down to mere nubs. It is devastating for the family.
Further, the bill applies to children ages 13-17, obsessed with themselves and their identity, who reside outside the state of Washington, who may travel --- say, from New York --- and desire cross-sex hormones or sex-change surgeries. This ensures Washington is the new “sanctuary state” for kids experimenting with this. The final blow: The bill even allocates nearly $7.5 million of Washington taxpayer’s money to the Office of Homeless Youth Prevention and Protection so they can give grants to other organizations to cover the extraordinary costs of gender-related and abortion procedures. Not one Republican voted for this bill.
At best, this bill fast-tracks sex-change surgery for minors without their parents’ knowledge or consent. At worst, it ensures that teenagers, desperate for acceptance and obsessed with self-love, seek refuge from shelters and are labeled an orphan at least while they seek life-altering, sex-change surgeries and cross-sex hormones either while their parents don't know or their hands are tied. The Heritage Foundation’s Sarah Marshall Perry calls the bill “The stuff of parents’ nightmares.” That’s putting it mildly.
This bill is a twin relative of California’s sanctuary bill, which also advertises itself as a bill which accepts children trying to live as their opposite gender, seeking sex-change surgeries and cross-sex hormones, especially if they go to California from states that “criminalize” this behavior. That bill also gives the state permission to override parents’ wishes, if they oppose these things.
Worst of all, progressives framed both these bills as protective measures for minors, even though everyone knows parents are typically the front line of protection for their children - not the state or its politicians. Hiding vital information, such as a child’s gender confusion or dysphoria, is not protecting a child; that’s one of the worst forms of gaslighting.
What began as a complicated medical condition, gender dysphoria, has now been taken over by progressives as the gateway to state-sponsored medical care, spearheading avenues for children to live as wards of the state, under the guise of medicine, as stunned, bereaved parents stand by seeking any legal recourse that might help them regain their most beloved babies.
According to the Supreme Court, “the liberty interest...of parents in the care, custody, and control of their children is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by [the] Court” (Troxel v. Granville, 530 U.S. 57 (2000)) Functionally, sans parents, children become the state’s, ripe for abuse, brainwashing, and more. Philosophically, sans parents, children fail to receive genuine love, care, attention, and everything else they need to survive.Without such care, children become dysfunctional, non-functional, robotic, or easily subdued.
In America, we eschew such a state of being. In America we want children to be so safe and free that they form their own opinions, create new inventions, and come up with even better ways to thrive freely and independently.
Parental rights lay at the heart of a child’s security. It is a key component in helping our nation’s next generation thrive, furthering liberty, improving capitalism, and encouraging individual rights. The GOP is by no means flawless, but they’re the only ones standing in the way of a bevy of progressive ideas designed to put a wedge between parents and their children, natural rights, and chaos. Don’t let it happen.
