In sum, the “dog that didn’t bark” is literary shorthand for instances where a claim that is alleged to be based upon facts is discredited or disproven by the absence and/or deliberate omission of a fact that would, logically, be in evidence.
Speaking of logic – or, more accurately, the absence thereof – enter the febrile hive-minds of the elitist caricature that is the World Economic Forum (WEF). As Breitbart reported, in their annual gaggle to make the world safe for autocracy to protect their money, power, and privilege from we peons, there was a discordant Greek chorus of Philippics, calumnies, and condemnations of carbon emissions, fossil fuels; and dire warnings that the failure to act with catholic alacrity to stanch the climate apocalypse is perpetuating a “planetary crisis” spurring “mass extinction” that puts “humanity’s future at risk.” Per the ravings of Mr. Al Gore:
“That’s what’s boiling the oceans, creating these atmospheric rivers, and the rain bombs, and sucking the moisture out of the land and creating the droughts, and melting the ice and raising the sea level, and causing these waves of climate refugees, predicted to reach one billion in this century.
“Look at the xenophobia and political authoritarian trends that have come from just a few million refugees. What about a billion? We would lose our capacity for self-governance on this world.”
Evidently, “we” is not as inclusive as one might think, especially when faced with a climate apocalypse that has humanity teetering on the edge of history’s dumpster. For while the world’s western democracies must toss their freedom and prosperity into the volcano to appease a fevered Goddess Gaia, guess who doesn’t? Communist China.
The stark dichotomy in energy policies between the United Kingdom and communist China is instructive. Once more, per Breitbart, a report from Oxford University’s Our World in Data project determined, “Communist China has emitted more carbon dioxide over the past eight years than the United Kingdom has since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.” Specifically, the study found:
Obviously, one reason is that the genocidal Beijing regime would not care. Oh, they may give lip service to the climate cult, but they have no intention of slowing their economic growth. Even if they wanted to do so, they could not. The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) tacit agreement with their captive people is that, in exchange for their citizens’ liberty, they will provide prosperity and security. The steep declines in Chinese prosperity caused by abiding the requisite climate change being foisted upon developed, democratic Western nations to remedy an “existential threat to humanity” would constitute an existential threat to the rule of the CCP. Guess which one the CCP cares about more?
Another rationale is the one that makes a person a WEF elitist in good standing: a boatload of money. Economic ties with genocidal communist China have proven good for many members of the WEF. Though those heady days of profit raking may have peaked post-COVID, the WEF’s members have a stake in ensuring they recoup their remaining investments. As a correspondent related: “The reality is as China's economy collapses, its investment firms like BlackRock sending billions into China to prop them up.”
The curious result is that global investment entities who tout their support of environmental, social, and governance standards (and cost their customers money to do so) to stanch climate change by refusing to invest in new sources of traditional energy are quite happy to invest in fossil fuel consuming, earth polluting, carbon-spewing genocidal communist China. Less curious, then, is the fact the China Energy Fund is a WEF co-sponsor.
In the end, as Holmes would note: the WEF’s climate apocalypse’s dog is not barking at communist China, because it is begging for treats. This inconvenient truth belies the impending climate apocalypse; evinces that this alleged “crisis” isn’t about controlling the climate; it’s about controlling you; and if the WEF gets its elitist way, the only impending “mass extinction event” will be of your liberty and prosperity.
